Snapping Out of a Funk

Happy Sunday friends!  It’s been a little while since I’ve checked in which makes me sad.  This is primarily due to the fact that I was just in some weird funk last week.  Sound familiar?

photoOne of those weeks where I kept harping on the negatives, feeling bad for myself, making excuses not to get things done, and just feeling a bit off.

We all have these weeks because well…we are human.  Life isn’t always full of rainbows and for most of us staying positive and happy requires a constant conscious effort.

Life is full of contrasts really.  Weekdays and weekends.  Rainy days and sunny days.  Times of joy and times of heartache. Moments of togetherness and moments of loneliness.  The more we can learn to embrace these contrasts the better we can navigate the eb and flow of our life.

Here’s just a few ways that I was able to snap out of my funk:

Get outside.  Even if it’s only five minutes.  Take a moment to breathe in fresh air.  Focus on your inhales and exhales and be present for a few minutes.  This is really the only place life exists, here and now.  So let go of the past and try not to worry about the future. Continue reading

What I Ate Wednesday #3 – Weekend Eats

It’s hump day! I figured I’d stick with my What I Ate Wednesday posts because they’ve been fun to write.  Thanks Jenn for hosting!  This week I decided I’d give you something extra yummy to read about and post what Andy and I indulged in over the weekend.

Walrus and Carpenter is a southern inspired restaurant in the Black rock section of Bridgeport, CT.  It has a rustic feel inside the restaurant.  As soon as you step foot in the parking lot you can smell the smoker seeping into the air.

They have an eclectic variety of small plates and sides,  great craft beer, and unique cocktails.

For our first small plate we got something that we’ve eyed before.  A waffle grilled cheese with bacon.  So good! A little too big.  Good thing I had the cave man with me.

Up Close & Personal at The Justin Timberlake Concert

Happy Tuesday!  You made it through Monday, yay!  I’m still flying high from my weekend over here.  Friday night I went to Mohegan Sun for the Justin Timberlake concert.  My sister gets a lot of “party” perks through her company and had told me to keep this weekend open “just in case” she got tickets.

Well, the week before rolled around and I got the call!  She had two tickets to the show along with VIP passes that got us a pre-concert tour and party!  Let me tell you, the night was awesome!  I got up close & personal (not really but I wish) to Justin Timberlake.  I sort of felt like a teenage girl…but hey we all have the one celebrity crush right?!

We showed up to the casino and were immediately taken inside, down to the stage.  I felt super cool and important! Continue reading
