Yoga Teacher Training – Weekend Four

Well my fourth weekend of Yoga Teacher Training (a.k.a Yogaversity) is here and gone.  I can’t believe it’s already March!  Time is flying by as I predicted it would.  It’s just another reminder to myself to live in the present moment.  Not to wish away the weekdays, or weeks in between training.  Not to wonder what it will be like when we get to the weekend 7 or 8.  Just to take it all in.

These words have seemed to stick with me recently…

“It was one of the best days of my life, a day during which I lived my life and didn’t think about my life at all.” Jonathan Safran Foer

We had an awesome weekend learning about…

  • Backbends
  • Lakshmi, the goddess of good fortune, wealth, and inner and outer abundance
  • History of Patanjali’s Classical Yoga and beyond
  • Nomadic Poses
  • Sanskrit!

It was such a heart opening weekend (I’m seeing a common trend here).  Because there is so much information I learn during these weekends, I’ll stick to the trend of keeping it short and sweet.

Here are a few things I learned this weekend.

Thank you to Alley Maher, our official Yogaversity photographer.  How beautiful are her pictures?!

Earlier yoga (around the 1970’s) consisted primarily of seated poses.  Backbends have become more prevalent in just the past 10-15 years.

Next Stop – Belize

Well I already told you why you should plan that second vacation (a.k.a justified planning my second trip of the season).  Now it’s time to tell you where that second vacation is going to be…

BELIZE!

After doing some research and scouring the travel blog-osphere we decided on this beautiful Central American destination.  If it’s anything like Costa Rica then how can we really go wrong?

How We Decided on Belize

We first came across a Groupon for a Belize Getaway to Ambergris Caye.  Ambergris Caye is an island off of Belize that sits in the Carribbean.  I had never heard of it before, but quickly learned it was recently voted #1 in the Top 10 Islands of the World by Trip Advisor!

Crunchy Maple Almond Butter

Crunchy Maple Almond Butter?!  I hope that title made you click on this post.  It would definitely make me click.

Today was a great Monday.  Mainly because we gained an extra hour of sunlight tonight.  It was pretty crazy how much it affected my mood.  I rushed home after work, threw on my running shoes, and headed out for a run.  It was so, so nice to catch the sunset and breathe in 45 degree air! Literally, an instant mood booster.

Now on to that Crunchy Maple Almond Butter that made you click in the first place.  I can’t believe I didn’t buy a food processor earlier.  I’ve been dishing a lot of money for fancy almond butters over the past few years.  Little did I know all I needed was a few ingredients and this amazing machine we call a food processor.
