Four Podcasts I’m Listening To Now

Podcasts are my new favorite commuting soundtrack.  I’ve recently started making an effort to get more out of my driving time other than phone taps and celebrity gossip.  Sure sometimes you want to roll the windows down and blast some good ol’ fashion tunes, but other times why not gain some knowledge while on the road?

I simply just downloaded the podcast app on my i-phone and had thousands at my fingertips.  I guess I should give Andy some credit here.  He got me started when he told me about Mark Sisson’s Primal Blue Print podcast.  From there I realized that so many of my favorite knowledgeable, fun people have podcasts out there where they share their wisdom with the pod-o-sphere.

Here are my favorites:

This podcast has so much great information pertaining to living a paleolithic / primal lifestyle.  Mark Sisson has interviewed tons experts in all different areas.  I recently listed to one where Mary Vance, a holistic nutritionist, spoke about getting our hormones in balance through diet.  It was super useful for me to learn about!  Continue reading

Don’t Put Up a Stink – My Natural Deodorant Reviews So Far

UPDATE: After posting this blog I took the advice of Aurora and tried Crystal Essence in the Chamomile & Green Tea scent.  AND we have a winner!

I know, I know.  Pretty cliché. Girl finds herself in yoga, girl becomes yoga teacher, girl starts testing natural products, what’s next? Well cliché as it may be, removing chemicals from my daily skin care regimen has been a big priority as of late.

I don’t know the numbers or statistics or research behind using your every day antiperspirants, but what I do know is I don’t want 50 different chemicals seeping into my skin, especially near my chest, any longer.

So for the past four months or so I’ve been “experimenting” with natural deodorants.  I say “experimenting” because unfortunately they don’t all stave off our natural smell as easily as the chemical ridden ones do. Here is where I’m at so far.

Choosing Happiness

How did you wake up today?  How were you feeling?  Were you dreading getting up?  Did you wish you could press snooze and sleep for another hour? Those first few minutes of opening our eyes in the morning can really set the tone for the rest of our day.

What I’ve come to learn is that YOU decide every single morning how your day is going to pan out.  You have a choice every day, every moment really.  Now yes, I guess this is easier said than done.  I don’t just wake up every morning and say I choose to be happy and magically have the perfect day every day.  It’s a practice for sure.

But here are just a few ways that I choose happiness:

Focus on what you have.  Practice gratefulness. Practice gratitude. Every morning you wake up take a moment to reflect on all you have.  Maybe it’s as simple as a roof over my head, or a blanket to keep me warm.  Or maybe it’s for the loving partner sleeping by my side.  Continue reading
