How To Make Homemade Paleo Beef Jerky

So there’s definitely been a sort of jerky craze going on in my world lately. Andy and I started playing around with making our own back in January when I was doing the 21 Day Sugar Detox.

Then all of the sudden I started noticing more and more jerky companies in the stores and it seemed everyone around me was making it too! So I’ve basically been trying a ton of jerky over the past 6 months…and will say I like ours the best!

Since more and more people have been asking how the heck we make this healthy, great for paleo snacking jerky, I thought I’d share our method.

We started out doing it in the oven. Yup that’s right you can do it right in your very own oven! In our new house we have a gas stove and I just wasn’t comfortable leaving it on for an extended period of time so we bought a dehydrator.

What’s In My Grocery Bag

Hi friends. I hope everyone had a great weekend! Mine was pretty fantastic. We celebrated two of our very good friends getting engaged and I spend some QT with my dad.

I’ve been a little behind with blogging lately. Between work, my longer commute, and getting ready for my last weekend of yoga teacher training it’s been more and more difficult to fit it in. But no more excuses, while I sit in 75 minutes of traffic why not write a post (using voice memos)?

I thought I would share what was in my grocery bag this week. A lot of people, especially those trying out Paleo for the first time, will ask what I buy on a weekly basis.

Before Andy and I moved in together I usually could keep my grocery bill to about $60. Now that two of us have to get fed, one being a caveman with a very large appetite, our bill has about doubled. With that said, we still keep it pretty simple.

A Social Media Confession

I’ve always been enamored by social media. I was one of the first of my friends to get a MySpace profile. I remember finding the brightest and flashiest images to splatter all over my page. When Facebook started I couldn’t wait to be able to create a profile. I actually remember it being the first thing I did as soon as I got my college email address. Facebook documented my entire college career (or should I say party). I was one of those girls who had 50 photo albums and thousands of pictures. Once I graduated from college the Facebook posting continued but a new love affair also started. This love affair was with Instagram. Instagram took my documentation from Facebook and made it more creative, more appealing, I guess you can say prettier.

If you look at my current Instagram feed you will find pictures of beautiful sunsets, mouth watering food, and perfect yoga poses.

What you won’t find are pictures of my messy bedroom that still is unpacked, my dinner I threw together because I got home at 10pm, or me falling out of a hand stand because I can only hold it for one second or less. Yes that’s right. I still have not nailed a solid handstand away from the wall.

Why am I telling you this? Continue reading
