Balsamic & Fig Meatloaf

Happy Friday people!  I hope you all had a fabulous week.  My week has been quite different from most…but I’ll save that for a post coming soon.  I have had a little more time on my hands so decided to break out the cook books and get a little creative.

Fall is definitely in the air and I am not complaining.  It is by far my favorite season! It also makes me crave hearty meals with a sweet and savory spin, dinner by candlelight, and a nice pumpkin beer.  (see below)IMG_2361

I hadn’t made meatloaf in forever, probably since the 21 day sugar detox.  As I was flipping through Diane SanFilippo’s Practical Paleo I came across a recipe for Lamb Meatballs with a Balsamic & Fig Compote.  Sounded amazing!  Except I’m not the biggest lamb fan and I really wanted to make a meatloaf!  So was born Balsamic & Fig Meatloaf.

I Completed Yoga Teacher Training…Now What?

I officially received my 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher certificate this week! It’s funny, I’ve been teaching pretty regularly for a couple of months now but for some reason getting this piece of paper signed by Mitchel and Tracy was so exciting!

Every step on the journey to becoming a yoga teacher is invigorating, enlightening, and of course a little scary. I think for me, after finishing up our last weekend of teacher training, was when the nerves set in.  It all becomes a little more real.

You might start to question yourself…“Can I actually teach yoga?” “Who will I teach?” “Where will I teach?” “Will I make enough money teaching yoga?” “What if I’m a bad teacher?”

Well I’m here to tell you that you can teach yoga! You will find people to teach somewhere.  You will make some money and you will be awesome.  Continue reading

Meatza Pizza!

Alright people, I’ve been wanting to make a Meatza for quite some time now. Ever since I saw a recipe for it in Diane Sanfilippo’s 21 day sugar detox book back in January!

I mean how could you really go wrong with a giant pie of ground beef topped with your favorite savory (and sweet) ingredients? It’s like paleo / primal heaven. For those non cave men and women…well they kind of look at you like you have two heads when you explain the Meatza concept. ‘Wait you use meat as the crust? Red meat? Like ground beef? How?’

The best part of meatza pizzas is you can make them individual size meaning whatever toppings your little heart desires. No compromising with the picky other half on this one!
