Wanderlust Stratton – Fresh Air & Wide Open Space

Fresh mountain air, wide open spaces,  inspiring teachers, beautiful souls…and the list goes on.  Wanderlust was everything I thought it would be and more.  I spent five days in the Green Mountain State practicing yoga, learning from wise and talented teachers, meeting new people, listening to feel good music, and taking yoga selfies at the summit of Stratton Mountain (obviously a must).

Here is a little re-cap so you all can get a mini dose of what this awesome festival is like.

I drove up by myself.  It’s funny I was a little nervous at first. I hadn’t done a solo road trip in quite some time (or maybe ever now that I think about it).

As soon as I arrived I was greeted with this.  I knew I was about to have quite the unforgettable weekend.

Choosing Happiness

How did you wake up today?  How were you feeling?  Were you dreading getting up?  Did you wish you could press snooze and sleep for another hour? Those first few minutes of opening our eyes in the morning can really set the tone for the rest of our day.

What I’ve come to learn is that YOU decide every single morning how your day is going to pan out.  You have a choice every day, every moment really.  Now yes, I guess this is easier said than done.  I don’t just wake up every morning and say I choose to be happy and magically have the perfect day every day.  It’s a practice for sure.

But here are just a few ways that I choose happiness:

Focus on what you have.  Practice gratefulness. Practice gratitude. Every morning you wake up take a moment to reflect on all you have.  Maybe it’s as simple as a roof over my head, or a blanket to keep me warm.  Or maybe it’s for the loving partner sleeping by my side.  Continue reading

My Life Lately

Hey there! It’s been a little while, friends.  I feel like I’ve been starting every blog post this way for the past 6 months.  The truth is, is that since I started this blog two and a half years ago (whoa) a lot has changed in my life.

And as I’m writing these very words I am remembering that I wrote a very similar post back in October.  In that post I realized how different my life looked from the first post on The Primal Yogi.  And now even since October, there have been more changes like getting engaged!

So since I don’t think I will ever be ready to give up the blog completely I will just continue to contribute and share when I can.  To give you a glimpse as to what I’ve been up to lately I thought I’d share some pictures from the past few months.

 Work

Work has looked very different for me.  I am no longer sitting at a desk all day long.  I am up on my feet, educating active people on some pretty cool clothes, and developing myself and my team so that we can all follow our dreams and reach our goals. Outside of actually working I am in the community trying out new workouts with my awesome team.  Bar, SoulCycle, Crossfit, you name it! And of course still getting on my mat a few times a week.

I’ve also been able to practice my photog skills at work.  This has been a super fun part of my job.  What’s better than meeting like-minded people and capturing beautiful images of them? Continue reading
