Yoga Teacher Training – Weekend Five

This past weekend was Weekend Five of my Yoga Teacher Training a.k.a Yogaversity.  I can’t believe we are half way through! That means 100 hours down, 100 to go.  Ahh!

I have learned so, so much in these first five weekends about my own practice and the proper alignment of the asana practice as a whole.  It’s crazy to look back and realize that for two years I may have been doing poses with improper alignment or simply just not known the reason for that alignment.

Knowing that reason or the “why” is something I’m really coming to value during this process.  I’m so grateful to be learning from teachers who have such an immense depth of knowledge.  If I’m going to become a yoga teacher I’ve realized that it’s important to me to know where Yoga comes from and how it’s gotten to where it is today.  And let me tell you, there is A LOT to learn between the two.

This weekend we covered…

Reviewing the rest of our manual which included inversions (!) and seated forward bends and twists.  I definitely need the most practice with inversions.  Going upside down, and the hesitation my body faces, is definitely mental.  I know I just have to practice, practice, practice, and get out of my own head!

Food Should Taste Good Chips – Review & Giveaway

And the winner is…Andrea! Congratulations on winning the Food Should Taste Good Giveaway!

Well hello there! I’m super excited to write this post.  It’s only my second review and giveaway and I’m hoping it will be even better than the first!

The lovely folks over at Food Should Taste Good sent me a giant box of yummy samples.  First of all, can we talk about that name? Food Should Taste Good.  What an awesome name.  It’s kind of like they decided on this long name and really didn’t care that it was that long because their chips would sell themselves.  Their tag line is even “Super Long Name. Super Delicious Chips.”

Now, if I’m being honest. I really don’t eat chips very often, especially since going primal.  But Food Should Taste Good Chips are made from real, simple ingredients and are even gluten-free!  I was sent three different flavors of their sweet potato chips. Continue reading

Thinking Out Loud Link – Up #2

Well I just want to thank Amanda at Running With Spoons for hosting Thinking Out Loud because it’s exactly what I needed this week!  I wrote my first Thinking Out Loud post last week…and haven’t written a post since.

It’s just been one of those weeks.  Where everything is off schedule, you have too many things to do, and not enough hours to do them.  So thank you Amanda for letting me Think Out Loud…because it’s exactly what I need to do this week!

  • I saw the most beautiful sunset this week.  I didn’t even realize just how beautiful it was until I looked at the picture I had snapped much later.  The weird thing was that I snapped it after leaving a wake.  It really made me stop and think. There is beauty everywhere you look, even in life’s saddest moments…you just have to notice them.

  • I am really forcing spring into my life this week.  I shed my winter coat, put on flats, and even ordered an iced coffee at Starbucks!  Unfortunately mother nature didn’t exactly cooperate, but I think she’s almost there.

  • I’m feeling guilty that I’ve been slacking on my blog posts.  One of my 2014 intentions was to try and post three times a week.  Between work, yoga training, and well…just life, it’s been harder than I thought.

  • I leave for Belize in just over a month!  I love planning vacations only a couple of months out because they creep up on you, and bam! Paradise is knocking at your door before you know it.  I’ve been window shopping (what’s the equivalent online?) for a new bathing suit.  I’m really liking the fringe look!

  • Last weekend Andy and I went to a brewery here in Connecticut, Two Roads Brewery.  In this first year back in Connecticut after living in Boston for four years, I’ve realized that this little state of ours really does have so many fun things to explore.  Two Roads is an awesome place, not to mention awesome beer with a fantastic slogan. Take the road less traveled.

  • I’ve been loving Spotify lately and discovering new music.  A few new favorite bands / artists: Birds of Tokyo, Walk off The Earth, The Wild Feathers, and Vitamin String Quartet.

That’s all I got for you this week.  Until next Thursday!
