What I Ate Wednesday #1

Hi Friends!  Happy hump day!  Since joining the blog-o-sphere back in August of 2013, I’ve always enjoyed reading Jenn’s WIAW link up posts.  Jenn is the awesome blogger behind Peas and Crayons and brings tons of food bloggers together every Wednesday to share what they have been putting in their mouths. I’m not sure why it’s taken me so long to join, but here is my first What I Ate Wednesday! photo 1 (27)

For breakfast I grabbed a grande iced coffee from Starbucks.  I’ve been drinking it black lately, but today I added some Almond Milk that my work so kindly has in the fridge.  I brought in fresh blueberries that I got over the weekend and drizzled them with some of my homemade maple almond butter.  I threw it in the microwave for about 15 seconds…more like dessert if you ask me! photo 3 (27) Continue reading

Yoga Teacher Training – Final Weekend!

I am officially a trained yoga teacher! My final yoga teacher training weekend was already two weeks ago. I have subconsciously put off writing this post for a few reasons.

I’m not sure I want to face the reality that these weekends will no longer be a part of my life.
This means that I have to take the next steps…and well, actually teach. And that’s a little scary.
On top of all of that I’m not sure exactly how to put into words a summary of my experience.

Our last weekend together was beautiful. The weather was perfect, the excitement was abundant, and there was just a bittersweet-ness in the air.

We were split into six different groups for the teaching of our final classes. Groups of three were to teach a 75 minute class and groups of two were to teach a 60 minute beginners class. I was in a group of two and would teach the first 30 minute portion of a beginners class.

This meant a lot of yoga for one weekend! We had three classes both days taught by each other. It was so exciting seeing each one of us take the seat of the teacher. It was amazing that after six months of learning and ten weekends together we all have truly become great yoga teachers, each in our own unique way. Continue reading

How To Clean Your Yoga Mat

Okay, let’s start this with a confession.  I don’t clean my yoga mat nearly as much as I should.  There I said it.  And I’m assuming at least 90% of yogis out there would say the same thing!  If you live in the suburbs and drive to yoga, it’s pretty safe to assume that your yoga mat hardly ever sees anything besides your car’s back seat and your yoga studio floor.

The problem is that whenever I roll out my mat I immediately want to pick up the, what seems like hundreds, of fuzzies and hairs.  No mater how many I pick off, there always seems to be more!

I was determined to find a solution so I thought, well I need something sticky.  What is sticky and on a roller?  A lint brush!  It was the perfect way to pick up all of those unwanted hairs and fuzzies off of your mat.  The first time I broke out the lint brush before class, everyone loved the idea.  Apparently this was revolutionary; no one had ever seen it before! Woo hoo go Kelsey!

How To Clean Your Yoga Mat

What You Need

  • Pants Hanger (the kind with the two clips)
  • Sticky Lint Roller
  • Sponge
  • Swinging Door (closet door works well)
  1. Take your hanger and clip it on to the shorter side of your yoga mat.
  2. Hang your mat on a free swinging door.
  3. Lint roll one side and then the other.
  4. Dampen a sponge and wipe down each side.

That’s it!
